Scheme for Women in Safety - Excellence Award

Perspective: Women are important driving force behind India’s economic growth. Across sectors from healthcare and engineering to defence, aviation, banking, IT and environment, women are leading with commitment and demonstrating excellence. Women are also working in the field of safety, health and environment, which is one of the noble professions. The National Safety Council of India (NSCI) proudly recognizes women’s leadership by launching the Safety Excellence Award for Women on 8th March 2026 (International Women’s Day).
To encourage, recognize and celebrate the women for their outstanding contributions and achievements in the field of safety, health and environment profession, NSCI is proud to introduce the new award scheme for Women titled as "NSCI Excellence Award for Women in Safety" on International Women’s Day, 8th March, from the year 2026. The awards will be presented at the NSCI Safety Awards Ceremony 2026.
Objectives:
- Recognize women for their excellence in Occupational Safety & Health (OSH)
- Encourage women leadership in the safety profession
- Promote innovation and best practices in workplace safety by women
- Inspire the next generation of women safety professionals
Title: The title of award scheme is "NSCI Excellence Award for Women in Safety"
Awards Year: The award year is Calendar Year for which the Applications are invited.
Who Can Apply?
Women professionals from Industry, Government, PSUs, MSMEs, Academia, Research, Consulting, and NGOs who are eligible to apply:
- Are currently working in Occupational Safety and Health
- Have a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
- Have demonstrated measurable improvements in safety performance
- Have upheld high ethical and compliance standards
Award & Prize: The trophy and certificate of NSCI Excellence Award for Women in Safety would be presented to the winner.
Evaluation Criteria: Nominations will be assessed based on:
- Professional excellence and experience
- Leadership and innovation
- Measurable safety impact
- Training and capacity building initiatives
- Ethical standards and compliance record
Assessment Process: The assessment process would involve following stages:
Stage 1: Application Assessment: The detailed information provided by applicants in application form will be assessed using assessment criteria defined by NSC. Based on this assessment, applicants will be shortlisted for stage 2 assessment.
Stage 2: Online interaction with the Awards Committee: Based on the above assessment, the shortlisted applicants will be invited for online interaction with the Award Committee.
The Awards Committee will finalise the Award winners.

Participation Fees :
- For NSC Members - Rs.5,000/- plus 18% GST
- For Non-members - Rs.7,000/- plus 18% GST

- Declaration of result: 31st December, 2026
Submission Details:
Duly filled in application and supporting documents shall be submitted to The Director General, National Safety Council, Plot 98-A, Sector-15, CBD Belapur, Navi Mumbai – 400614 by hard copy before the due date.
